Spotlight on Amy McKissick: Preparing Leaders for Tomorrow's Texas
As part of School Board Recognition Month, we are excited to spotlight one of Troy ISD's dedicated trustees, Amy McKissick. Her commitment to education and desire to serve the community are driven by her belief in the potential of every student and the future they represent for Texas.
What inspired you to serve on the school board, and how does that tie into your vision for Texas' future?
I currently have 3 Troy High School graduates, 6 kids in Troy ISD & one that hasn’t yet begun her Troy schools journey. My children, along with their classmates are Texas’ future and, therefore, serve as my inspiration for serving on the school board.
I want every Troy ISD student to feel safe and loved when they step on campus. I want our district to provide opportunities that allow every student to flourish and become well-rounded citizens, to build leadership skills and help shape their values. I want every graduate to view their academic journey as just what they need to be successful in the next phase of their life.
When these things are accomplished, students can lead with confidence and be a part of solutions; they can contribute to the world around them and inspire others to do the same.
Amy’s dedication reminds us all of the deep influence school board members have in shaping educational experiences that prepare students for their futures. We thank Amy McKissick for her service and commitment to excellence and the success of Troy ISD students.
