The Troy ISD Technology Department provides services to staff and students each school day from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. This team shares a passion for providing technology-based solutions that support the instructional needs of teachers and the learning needs of students. This is being done through continually building and maintaining a secure and stable infrastructure that promotes communication and learning for students, staff and the community.

  • What is FERPA?

    The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal privacy law that gives parents certain protections with regard to their children's education records, such as report cards, transcripts, disciplinary records, contact and family information, and class schedules.

  • The Child Online Protection Act (COPPA) is a law created to limit the collection of private information of children under 13.  The Act was passed by the U.S. Congress in 1998 and took effect in April 2000.  COPPA is managed by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

  • What is CIPA compliance?

    The Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) was enacted by Congress in 2000 to address concerns about children's access to obscene or harmful content over the Internet. CIPA imposes certain requirements on schools or libraries that receive discounts for Internet access or internal connections through the E-rate program – a program that makes certain communications services and products more affordable for eligible schools and libraries. In early 2001, the FCC issued rules implementing CIPA and provided updates to those rules in 2011.
