  • PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test)

The PSAT is a test that uses the same format as the SAT Reasoning Test. It is designed to give students an opportunity to practice taking the SAT and gives important feedback for SAT preparation. Sophomores are encouraged to take the PSAT10 in the spring of 10th grade. The specific date will be announced. Juniors are encouraged to register and take the PSAT/NMSQT in October. This test is useful as an indicator of SAT scores and/or for test practice.

  • SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test)

The SAT Reasoning Test is the nation's most widely used admissions test among colleges and universities. The SAT is typically taken by high school Juniors and Seniors.
Students are required to register and pay a fee for SAT. It is recommended that students take the SAT in the spring of 11th grade year. Fee waivers are available for students who qualify--see counselor for details.

  • ACT (American College Testing)

The ACT is a college entrance exam composed of 4 timed tests (English, mathematics, reading, and science). Students may register for one of two TEST OPTIONS: the ACT assessment, or the ACT Assessment Plus WRITING, which includes a 30-minute Writing Test for an additional fee. It is recommended that students take the ACT in the spring of 11th grade year. Fee waivers are available for students who qualify--see counselor for details

  • TSIA (Texas Success Initiative Assessment)

The assessment is designed to guide Texas public institutions of higher education in helping them determine whether students are ready for entry-level college coursework in the areas of English Language Arts Reading (ELAR) and mathematics. Students are exempt from this assessment if they meet college readiness benchmarks on the SAT, ACT, STAAR English III or Algebra II EOCs, or successfully complete the high school College Preparatory Course.
