Troy ISD Announces New Leadership in Business Office

Troy ISD has named Michelle Backor as the district's new Chief Financial Officer. Mrs. Backor will oversee the business and financial operations of the district. The business office oversees and provides leadership and coordination of the district's business and support functions. Backor replaces Cindy Holloway, who is retiring after 18 years of serving Troy ISD as Chief Financial Officer.
“We enthusiastically welcome Michelle Backor as the next Chief Financial Officer of Troy ISD! It is impossible to replace the integrity, knowledge, understanding, and professionalism that Cindy Holloway takes with her into retirement. However, we recognize the skills and potential that Michelle brings to the table. Her personal experiences as a decorated graduate of Troy High School, current resident of our community, and involved parent in our district complement her education and experience as a tax accountant, senior auditor, and successful business owner/operator,” said Neil Jeter, Superintendent. “We are fortunate to have Michelle join our administrative team!”
Backor brings more than 10 years of experience in financial auditing and tax preparation. She also co-founded a real estate brokerage in Temple with her husband, where she took on multiple roles, including overseeing the accounting and marketing departments. In these roles, she ensured compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in all financial processes.
“As a proud Troy High School graduate, I am eager to bring my experience in auditing and financial reporting, as well as my expertise in managing accounting departmental staff back to my community. ” Backor shared. “Throughout my career, I have successfully led financial operations, focusing on auditing, taxation, financial reporting, and strategic planning. Having benefited firsthand from a quality education at Troy High School, I am committed to ensuring that current and future students have similar success. My goal is to leverage my accounting skills to create a sustainable financial environment for our district.”
Backor holds a Bachelors in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting degree from Texas Tech University.
Troy ISD welcomes Michelle Backor with great enthusiasm! With her extensive experience and deep roots in the Troy community, the district looks forward to the positive impact she will bring as Chief Financial Officer.
