Troy Trojans Ready for Playoffs
For the first time since 2019, the Troy Trojans are heading to the playoffs, bringing a wave of excitement to the community.
Athletic Director Tommy Brashear credits the team’s dedicated offseason for this success, as well as the resilient mindset the athletes have carried into each game. “The kids worked hard to get stronger, quicker, and faster,” Brashear said, “but maybe most importantly, it’s been the winning attitude that’s set the tone for the season.”
The team’s growth throughout the season has been notable, with steady improvement in every area of the game. “We’re playing with better technique and executing better each week thanks to the countless reps in practice,” Brashear shared. Leadership has also been key to this progress, with standout contributions from players like Joseph McMurtry on offense, Johnavion Dees and Tyler Williams on the offensive line, and defensive leaders Grayson Bogausch, Chandler Milton, Peyton Valdes, and Adain Dalton.
Brashear spoke of the powerful impact this season has had on the community, sharing how a successful football season can lift the school’s entire spirit. “There’s a sense of pride that comes with it,” he said. “We’ve had an extremely good fall semester in Troy with Grayson Williams placing second in State for cross country, the Mighty Trojan Band finishing 15th at State, and Volleyball advancing to Area Finals. Good things are happening in Troy America.”
The season hasn’t been without its challenges. Injuries to key players, including Marshall Hall, Reed Ketcham, and Mason Barnett, tested the team’s resilience. “The kids have embraced a ‘next man up’ mentality, and we’re a stronger team now because of it,” Brashear said.
“We were down pretty good at halftime against Franklin, but we came storming out in the second half and cut the lead down,” he reflected. “It opened our eyes to our potential as a team.”
Brashear also expressed gratitude for the support from Troy’s coach staff and community. “I'm very proud of this coaching staff. They have been working seven days a week since August and they are doing a tremendous job. I'm very proud of our sub-varsity teams. The JV finished the year at 9-1, the freshman were 6-4, The combo MS B team was 1-3, the 7thA team was 2-5, the 8th A team was 5-2. The community of Troy is amazing, and they support our players and coaches wholeheartedly.”
With the playoffs on the horizon, the Trojans carry the pride and spirit of Troy America as they aim to make this season one for the books.
