Soundtrack of School Spirit: The Mighty Trojan Marching Band
After weeks of marching camp, 70 students composing the Troy High School marching band are back to work gearing up to learn the music they'll perform this fall during halftime shows and in their competitive season.
Under the direction of Rustin Honeycutt the Troy band looks to top last year’s state appearance. Honeycutt stated, “We hope to advance to state this year and make finals but our primary goal is always connecting with the audience, developing connections with each other and learning how to work as a cohesive performing unit made up of a diverse set of individuals.”
Honeycutt who is entering his 15th year with Troy also shared, “Every year there is a new band. We are constantly changing and developing the program. This year the marching band has changed the way we developed the show using different arrangers for the music. The past several years we had original music written for the band. We are using arrangements of pop, jazz and classical music for the show. It will have a different feel.”
We are eager to see our beloved Trojan band take the field this fall marking the 56th year of performances dating back to 1968 when it was founded by W.D. Bruton.
