Spotlight on Kirk Bailey: Preparing Leaders for Tomorrow's Texas
As part of School Board Recognition Month, Troy ISD proudly highlights Kirk Bailey, a dedicated member of the Board of Trustees, whose forward-thinking perspective reflects the theme of this year’s celebration, "Leadership for Tomorrow’s Texas."
What do you envision as the biggest challenge for Texas schools in the coming years, and how can school boards prepare for it?
I believe a couple of the biggest challenges for the future in Texas schools are teachers and schools. Troy ISD does a good job of reviewing data and looking at growth to see what is required to stay ahead and meet and exceed the needs of the city. We just reviewed a demographics study with valuable information on the past, present, and projected future growth for Troy. This can and will be used to ensure, as we move forward, that we work together to meet the school district's needs in the future.
Whether this relates to buildings or those who teach, support staff, administration, and all of those who are part of Troy ISD, we must continue to ensure we have the necessary resources to educate our students. Troy is a great place to grow up and raise a family, and we, being a part of the community, should be promoting our city, informing the public of the strengths of our great school district, and highlighting the area as a great place to work too!
Troy is special and offers many opportunities for our kids. This is a place where all involved are concerned and a vital and integral part of the education of our kids, including our city.
I am very partial to the education industry. My mom was a teacher for over 30+ years in Texas, my grandfather was a teacher and principal, my father-in-law taught in military schools, and my wife was also involved in the education industry for over 15 years. Being a member of a family that has been involved in and a part of education most of my life, it is very important to me to see all of our kids grow up to be successful.
Kirk Bailey’s insights emphasize the importance of strategic planning and collaboration to meet the evolving needs of our students, staff, and community. We thank Kirk Bailey for his commitment to excellence and the success of Troy ISD students.
