Mighty Trojan Band at the Annual Troy Marching Band Festival
Troy High School took the field early Wednesday morning at the annual Troy Marching Band Festival, showcasing their musical talent. Over 25 other high schools from the surrounding areas also took the field. The Mighty Trojan Band captivated the audience with their dynamic performance of City Lights, featuring a rhythmic ballad infused with the nostalgic melody of Sweet Dreams.
The performance highlighted features from the clarinet, flute, and woodwind sections, with solos from Abreanna Funderburk on Flugelhorn and Trumpet, Ryan Solis on Tenor Saxophone, and Nick Dewitt on Alto Saxophone.
The show was filled with impressive visuals and lots of body movements that brought the music to life. Junior Drum Major Owen DuPuis expressed his excitement about the show, saying, “I really enjoy the grooviness and the fun solos—they really help bring the performance together. Overall, I think things are turning out really well.” Fellow Junior Drum Major Hannah Halford added, “My favorite part of the show is the visuals. I feel like a lot of other bands don’t incorporate as many visuals as we do. The solos also add a lot of that groove, making everything flow with enthusiasm.” Band Director Rustin Honeycutt commented on the band’s progress, noting, “Right now, we're focused on balancing the sound. We’ve been fine-tuning the show, and we’ve already seen improvements since our last contest. We’re continuing to push to reach another level.”
Honeycutt also shared his gratitude to the parents and students who helped make the festival a success. “Thank you to all the parents and students that help make the contest work. It's a lot of work. A lot of parents put in a ton of work.”
