Building Tomorrow's Leaders Today: Grayson Williams and Marshall Hall Head to Boys State

Posted Date: 05/17/2024

The countdown has begun as Troy High School eagerly anticipates the participation of two young leaders in the upcoming Boys State program this June.

Juniors Grayson Williams and Marshall Hall will spend a week at the State Capitol in Austin, Texas. This immersive experience is set to commence on June 9th and promises to empower students with invaluable lessons in governance, leadership, and civic engagement.

Sponsored by American Legion Post #133, Williams and Hall will represent Troy ISD in this week-long summit.

Boys State is a revered program held annually at the University of Texas. Over 1,000 young men from all over the state will engage in a myriad of activities: including legislative sessions, court proceedings, assemblies, and recreational programs. The program provides high school juniors the unique opportunity to delve into the intricate workings of local, county, and state governments. Led by elected student officials, these activities provide a hands-on approach to learning, allowing students to shape their simulated government.

Marshall shared, "I am excited to participate, especially because I know a lot of other people don’t get the chance to do it. It will be a good experience.”

Williams added, “This is a great opportunity not only for potential scholarships but also because I would like to pursue a career in politics. Post high school I am interested in pursuing a law and finance degree.”

For Troy High School students, Boys State represents more than just a week-long summer program—it's an opportunity for personal growth, networking, and leadership development.

As Williams and Hall immerse themselves in the dynamic atmosphere of Boys State, they will hone their debate skills, cultivate their desire for government affairs, as well as build new and lasting friendships with young men from across the great state of Texas with hopes of moving forward to represent Texas at Nationals in DC in July!

The stage is set for a week of inspiration, growth, and empowerment.

We are expectant and excited for these two young men and know they will represent our district well.
